Well its a great place to spend winter
The run of Pelagics had been fantastic with the Mack Tuna everywhere around Rattlesnake Island and Cordelia Rock they where right up in shallows they where chasing the tiniest of White bait and they where gorging themselves which was evident from the couple we have keep Susimi Yeah Ha Break out the Soy Sauce.
But what I find is that if the fish are feeding on the top like that boiling on the surface there will be fish feeding near the bottom on the scrapes.
In the deeper water I find the schools of Queenfish can be under the Tuna and the snapper dont mind getting in under for look either so its always worth watching your sounder for the bottom sometimes your best fish can be hooked that way so one eye on the school you are going to cast at and one on the bottom for the person reading the Depth Sounder.
With me it can all change so quick im up and down but it works always on the hunt I hate waiting for fish to come to me I like to look for them.
But our old friend the reef shark has departed with many a prized Soft Plastic or metal slice.
A day as a fishing guide
I meet the 4 Irish lads and there boss at Magnetic Island on a Sunday morning 7.00am start heading off to the spot then to find out that the Irish boys had been up all night and there last round was 6 straight vodkas each at 3.00am after a day on it as well The 3 havent bought hats for the day and I have no cover on the boat The mood was great the first hour but they had hammered me with pissed Irish questions but I sat back and said to myself they all will be crook as soon we chase a couple of Tuna one starts to look blue then the first one spews then the chain reaction started all 4 boys down for the count then I piled it on, it was great lucky we were 500meters from an island i then unloaded them on deserted beach with some towels as they were begging for land. Me and there boss went fishing for tuna close by while the boys had a 2 hour power nap on the beach only too return burnt as well then struggled for the trip home. Guide has last laugh.
